Quick Guide
Name, City, Type of Resource

Jails are primarily  local, usually for short term stays and normally smaller than prison, which are usually state-run, long term, and pretty large institutions. The basic purpose of both, however, is to detain people who are charged with criminal activity.  The cells and security measures are similar, so if you want to know what they feel like from the inside, visit some of the sites listed here.  If you know of some we've missed, e-mail the details to us.
