Description
From 1817 to 1870, the Academy
provided higher education for area boys and as
boarders. It was then used as a meeting hall, district school, and apartments
before becoming a museum of local history during the town's bicentennial in
1968. Displays include America's first dinosaur fossils, American Indian
artifacts, early textile machinery, farm implements, weapons and uniforms
from America's wars, and other local memorabilia.
